Your trusted online pharmacy, delivered beautifully.
Order NHS prescriptions, speak to a pharmacist, and manage your medication — all from one place. Free tracked delivery, straight from our registered pharmacy in Gateshead.
Why Tyneside
A pharmacy built around the way you actually live.
Clinical care, done properly
Every prescription is reviewed by a pharmacist before dispensing, and checked again before it leaves. We'd rather delay a parcel than post something we're unsure about.
Free tracked delivery
If you're local to us in Tyneside, one of our own drivers brings your medicines to your door. Everywhere else in the UK, we use Royal Mail Tracked 48. Free either way, on every NHS prescription.
Pharmacist on call
Phone or video — talk to a UK-registered pharmacist about your medication, side effects, or what to take for common conditions.
Our standards
How we work, in plain numbers.
Our commitments
A pharmacy you can trust to be straight with you.
We're a new pharmacy. We don't have years of reviews yet — but we have decades of combined NHS experience and a clear set of commitments to you.
Every prescription is reviewed by a UK-registered pharmacist before it leaves our pharmacy. No exceptions, no shortcuts.
Free delivery on every NHS prescription — by our own driver if you're local, or Royal Mail Tracked if you're not. NHS charges are exactly what your local pharmacy would charge.
You can switch nominated pharmacy any time through the NHS App or your GP. We'd rather earn your nomination month by month than tie you in.
Ready to switch your pharmacy?
One short form, one phone call. No fees, no lock-in, switch back any time.

From repeat prescriptions to clinical reviews, our full NHS service line is delivered remotely by a team of UK-registered pharmacists.

If you have one of seven common conditions, our pharmacists can assess you and, where clinically appropriate, supply prescription-only treatment under a Patient Group Direction — all free on the NHS, all done remotely by phone or video. We're commissioned to deliver six of the seven pathways; the seventh (acute otitis media in children 1–17) requires in-person examination so isn't suitable for distance delivery.
Sinusitis
For adults and children aged 12 and over with acute sinusitis. Includes self-care advice and antibiotic supply where indicated.
Sore throat
For patients aged 5 and over. We use the FeverPAIN scoring tool to identify when antibiotics are appropriate.
Infected insect bites
For adults and children aged 1 and over. Treatment for bites or stings showing signs of bacterial infection.
Impetigo
For adults and children aged 1 and over. Topical or oral antibiotic treatment for non-bullous impetigo.
Shingles
For adults aged 18 and over. Antiviral treatment within 72 hours of rash onset, where clinically appropriate.
Uncomplicated UTI
For women aged 16–64 with symptoms of an uncomplicated lower urinary-tract infection.
How a Pharmacy First consultation works with us
Start a consultation through our website or via NHS 111 referral. A pharmacist will book a video or phone call, work through the national clinical pathway with you, and either supply treatment under PGD, recommend self-care, or refer you back to your GP or onward as appropriate. If we send a treatment, it comes by our own driver if you're local, or Royal Mail Tracked if not — free of charge either way. Consultations are recorded in your pharmacy patient record and (with your consent) shared with your GP.
One pathway we cannot offer remotely
The Pharmacy First clinical pathway for acute otitis media in children aged 1–17 requires otoscopic examination of the ear, which can only be done in person. Please contact your GP, NHS 111, or visit a local pharmacy offering Pharmacy First face-to-face. Find a local Pharmacy First provider.
NHS Advanced Services
Clinical services, delivered remotely.
Where commissioned, we provide nationally-contracted NHS Advanced Services to our registered patients — by phone or video.
New Medicine Service
If you've been newly prescribed a medicine for a long-term condition, a pharmacist will support you across two follow-up consultations to help you get the most from it.
Discharge Medicines Service
If you've recently left hospital and your medicines have changed, we'll review them with you and reconcile your repeat list to keep you safe.
Hypertension Case-Finding
Where commissioned for remote delivery, we can loan a blood-pressure monitor, review your readings, and refer onward to your GP if needed.
Other services we do not provide
As a Distance Selling Pharmacy under the NHS (Pharmaceutical and Local Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations 2013, we do not provide face-to-face services at our premises. This means we do not offer in-person flu or COVID-19 vaccinations, walk-in prescription collection, or face-to-face emergency contraception consultations. Please find a local NHS pharmacy for any of these services.
How it works

Call us instead
If you would rather not fill in a form, or you are helping someone else register, ring us and we will take your details over the phone.

Why you cannot just pick us in the NHS App
The NHS App lets you nominate a high street pharmacy in one tap. It cannot do the same for a delivery pharmacy like ours, because before we can dispense anything we need your delivery address and whether you pay for prescriptions — and the app does not collect either.
So we do it for you instead. Once you are registered, everything works exactly as it would with any other pharmacy: your GP sends your prescriptions to us electronically, and you can still order your repeats through the NHS App just as you do now.
Register and nominate
Your details, and your nomination.
This form gives us what we need to set up your NHS nomination and your deliveries. A pharmacist rings you to confirm your identity before the nomination goes live. Anything about your health is taken on that call, not here.
Please don't send medical details
This form sets up your registration and your NHS nomination — nothing more. Don't tell us your symptoms, your conditions, your allergies, or the medicines you take. A pharmacist will take all of that from you on the phone, where it goes straight onto your patient record. A web form is not the right place for your health information.
Thank you — nearly there.
A pharmacist will ring you on the number you gave us, usually within one working day, to confirm your identity. Your nomination is set up on that call — nothing changes until then, so keep using your current pharmacy in the meantime.
If you need medicines urgently, please contact your GP, NHS 111, or a local pharmacy — don't wait for us to call.
What happens next
From your call to your front door.
This form is not for urgent or emergency needs
We are not an emergency service and we do not monitor this form outside our opening hours.
- If you need medicines urgently, contact your GP, call NHS 111, or visit a local pharmacy.
- In a life-threatening emergency, call 999.
Please be kind and considerate to pharmacy teams
Pharmacy teams work hard to support their communities every day. But more than half of pharmacies have experienced verbal abuse in the last six months, and three-quarters of those experience it at least weekly. This national campaign, running from 5 to 25 October 2026, asks for something simple: patience and respect for the people looking after your medicines.
We are here to help you. Sometimes we get busy, and you might have to wait a little longer than you would like. We work as quickly as we can to look after every patient safely — and we ask that you treat our team as you would want to be treated yourself. Abuse of our staff, on the phone or at the door, is never acceptable, and we will end any call or visit where it occurs.

The NHS flu vaccination programme opens on 1 September 2026 for pregnant women and children, with other eligible groups invited from October. The COVID-19 autumn booster programme runs from 1 October 2026 to 31 January 2027. Last winter the flu jab is estimated to have prevented around 104,000 hospital admissions in England.
We are a distance selling pharmacy, so we cannot vaccinate you here. But we can tell you whether you are eligible, and point you to somewhere that can. A modern pharmacy, with old‑school care.
Tyneside Pharmacy is a GPhC-registered online NHS pharmacy based in Gateshead. We started because we believed there was a better way to run a community pharmacy — one focused on clinical rigour and genuine care, not a busy shop counter.

02What sort of pharmacy we are
Tyneside Pharmacy is a Distance Selling Pharmacy (DSP) under the NHS (Pharmaceutical and Local Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations 2013.
This means all our NHS services are provided at a distance: over the phone, by video consultation, and through the post. We dispense from a registered pharmacy in Gateshead but we do not provide face-to-face services at the premises.
We provide our full range of services to patients anywhere in England, regardless of where you live. We will not refuse to dispense a prescription on the basis of your location.
03NHS services we provide
Essential services are provided to every patient who nominates us:
Accepted electronically via the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). Clinically checked and dispensed by a registered pharmacist, then delivered by our own driver locally, or by Royal Mail Tracked / secure courier elsewhere in the UK.
Where your GP issues a repeatable prescription, we dispense each batch on your behalf and contact you before each supply.
We accept unwanted or out-of-date medicines returned by post (small quantities only). Please contact us first for a pre-paid return label.
Our health-promotion zone (see the "Health zone" tab on our website) carries the current NHS England public-health campaign together with year-round self-care advice, signposting, and resources. We provide healthy-lifestyle advice individually by phone or video on request.
Where we can't help, we'll point you to the right NHS service — GP, NHS 111, A&E, local community pharmacy, or another specialist provider.
Remote advice on minor ailments and over-the-counter medicines, delivered by phone or video.
Advanced services we are commissioned to provide remotely:
Pharmacist-led assessment and supply under PGD for sinusitis, sore throat, infected insect bites, impetigo, shingles, and uncomplicated UTI. We do not provide the seventh pathway (acute otitis media in children aged 1–17) as it requires in-person otoscopic examination.
Telephone or video support for patients newly prescribed medicines for specific long-term conditions, delivered across two consultations.
Clinical check and follow-up for NHS patients recently discharged from hospital whose medication has changed.
Where agreed with our commissioner. We loan blood-pressure monitors and review the readings at a distance.
04Services we do not provide
Under the NHS (Pharmaceutical and Local Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations 2013 and following the 2025 amendment regulations, distance selling pharmacies are restricted from providing directed services face-to-face at the pharmacy premises. This means we cannot offer:
Please use a local pharmacy, your GP surgery, or book through the NHS App.
Requires in-person otoscopic examination of the ear. Please use a local pharmacy offering face-to-face Pharmacy First, your GP, or NHS 111. We do offer the other six Pharmacy First clinical pathways remotely (see section 03).
We don't operate a shop counter. All prescriptions are delivered by post or courier.
Time-sensitive, so please use a local pharmacy, sexual-health clinic, or GP surgery.
We can signpost you to an equivalent local service.
05How to use our services
To nominate us as your pharmacy:
Distance selling pharmacies cannot be nominated directly through the NHS App. Before we can dispense we need your delivery address and your prescription-charge exemption status, neither of which the app collects, so the nomination is set up with us directly instead. There are two ways to do that:
- Register on our website at tynesidepharmacy.co.uk. A pharmacist rings you back, confirms your identity, and arranges the nomination with your GP surgery on your behalf.
- Phone us on 0191 840 1190 during opening hours and we will take your details on the call.
You can also ask your GP surgery to set the nomination for you. Once it is in place, your GP sends every prescription to us electronically via EPS, and you can continue to order your repeats through the NHS App exactly as before.
Then request your repeat prescription as usual — through the NHS App, your GP's own system, or by phoning your GP. Your GP sends the prescription to us electronically via EPS. We dispense and deliver it, free of charge.
We do not collect clinical information through our website. The form on our website arranges a telephone call and nothing more — it does not ask for your medicines, your conditions or your allergies. A pharmacist takes your clinical history on the telephone and records it directly on your patient record.
To speak to a pharmacist:
- Phone 0191 840 1190 during opening hours
- Book a video or telephone consultation on our website
- Email hello@tynesidepharmacy.co.uk for non-urgent queries — but please do not send medical details by email
06Opening hours
Core hours (telephone and dispensing):
Opening hours are also published on the NHS website. When we're closed, please contact NHS 111 (below).
07Access & disability arrangements
Because we are a distance selling pharmacy, you don't need to visit us in person to access any of our services. We make the following adjustments on request:
- Alternative formats: large-print medicine labels, easy-read information leaflets, and audio summaries.
- Language support: interpreter support for phone and video consultations, including British Sign Language (BSL) on request.
- Accessible website: we aim to meet WCAG 2.2 AA — see our accessibility statement. Keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and reduced-motion options are built in.
- Reasonable Adjustment Digital Flag: we support the NHS Reasonable Adjustment Digital Flag so that recorded adjustments follow you between NHS services.
- Support for carers: with your consent, we can communicate with a family member or carer about your medication.
To request any adjustment, please call 0191 840 1190 or email accessibility@tynesidepharmacy.co.uk.
08Confidentiality & your data
Tyneside Pharmacy complies with the Data Protection Act 2018, the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), and the NHS Code of Practice on Confidentiality.

- it is necessary for your direct care (for example, with your GP or hospital team),
- we have a legal obligation to do so, or

We will never sell your data, share it for marketing, or transfer it outside the UK without appropriate safeguards.

10Violent or abusive behaviour
Our team has the right to be treated with respect. The pharmacy is not obliged to serve patients who are violent, abusive, racist, or threatening towards our staff — by phone, in writing, online, or in any other communication.
Under the NHS Terms of Service, a pharmacist may refuse to provide services where they or other staff are subjected to or threatened with violence or abuse. Where this happens, we will keep a record, may end the conversation, and may remove the patient from our nomination list. In serious cases we will involve the police.

We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This site has been designed and built with the following in mind:
- Semantic HTML for assistive technology (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Keyboard-navigable: every interactive element is reachable by keyboard with a visible focus state
- "Skip to main content" link on every page
- Colour contrast meeting WCAG AA for body text and UI elements
- Text resizes to at least 200% without loss of content
- Honours the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting to disable non-essential animation - Form fields have visible labels and use HTML autocomplete tokens
- Tabbed sections of this single-page site update the URL hash so the back button and direct deep-linking work as expected
Alternative formats. If you need information from this website in large print, easy read, audio, BSL or another language, please contact accessibility@tynesidepharmacy.co.uk or call 0191 840 1190. We will respond within 5 working days.

Statement preparation. Prepared on 1 September 2026. Tested internally against WCAG 2.2 AA using automated tooling (axe-core), September 2026. A full manual audit, including testing with screen readers and by people with lived experience of disability, has not yet been carried out. We will commission one and update this statement.
ETerms of service
1. About these terms
These terms form a binding agreement between you and P. S. Pendergood Limited ("we", "us", "Tyneside Pharmacy"). By registering or submitting a prescription, you agree to these terms.
2. Eligibility
You may register if you are 18 or over and resident in England. Registration on behalf of a child or a person who lacks capacity must be arranged through us directly.
3. Our service
We are an NHS-contracted Distance Selling Pharmacy. Our services include:
- Receiving, dispensing and delivering NHS prescriptions via the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
- NHS Pharmacy First (six of seven national clinical pathways — see our Services tab)
- NHS Advanced Services (NMS, DMS, and Hypertension Case-Finding where commissioned for remote delivery)
- Clinical advice by phone or video
We do not offer face-to-face services and we do not accept walk-in patients.
4. Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate, up-to-date information
- Tell us promptly of changes, especially to your address, GP, or contact details
- Nominate only one pharmacy at a time via the NHS App
- Pay any NHS prescription charges due, or provide valid evidence of exemption
- Tell us about side effects or problems with your medicines
5. Clinical safety
Our pharmacists clinically check every prescription before dispensing. We reserve the right to:
- Delay a dispense to contact you, your GP or another healthcare professional
- Refuse to dispense where we have a reasonable clinical or legal concern
- Decline a service if we believe it is not in your best interest
6. Delivery
Within our local delivery area we deliver using our own drivers. Elsewhere in the UK we use Royal Mail (Tracked 48) and specialist couriers as appropriate to the medicine. Delivery timeframes are estimates. We are not liable for delays beyond our reasonable control. If a parcel has not arrived within 7 working days of dispatch, please contact us and we will investigate.
7. Returns
By law we cannot accept returns of dispensed medicines for re-supply. If a medicine is dispensed in error or is faulty, contact us immediately and we will put it right at no cost to you.
8. Changing pharmacy
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time via the NHS App or your GP surgery. There is no fee, no minimum term, and switching back to a previous pharmacy is straightforward.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited under English law. Otherwise our liability for any other matter is limited to the fees paid by you for the service in question.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
11. Contact
For any questions about these terms, email hello@tynesidepharmacy.co.uk or write to us at the registered pharmacy address.
FHow we meet the GPhC's standards
We follow the General Pharmaceutical Council's Guidance for registered pharmacies providing pharmacy services at a distance, including on the internet (February 2025) and have a written risk assessment and standard operating procedures covering each of the five GPhC principles.
We do not operate an online prescribing service, so the additional safeguards in Principle 4.2(j) for medicines prescribed via questionnaire (e.g. weight-loss treatments, antimicrobials, controlled drugs prescribed online) do not apply to our service. Where a Patient Group Direction (PGD) is used — for example for our NHS Pharmacy First clinical pathways — supply follows the relevant national PGD and clinical pathway in full.
GBusiness continuity
If you cannot reach our website or app, please contact us by phone on 0191 840 1190 during opening hours. Outside opening hours, NHS prescriptions can still be sent to us by your GP via EPS and we will dispense them when we re-open. For urgent medical needs, contact NHS 111 by phone or at 111.nhs.uk, or your GP, or in a life-threatening emergency call 999.
Our Superintendent Pharmacist holds a written business-continuity plan covering website outage, IT failure, courier disruption, and supply-chain interruption. The plan is reviewed at least annually.
